The Walk-A-Bout are an Aussie/American, acoustically driven, rock-n-roll quartet hailing from the artistic east end of Long Island, New York. The carefully crafted songwriting of The Walk-A-Bout has allowed the band to explore the outer reaches of orchestral atmosphere. From a high-stepping funk feel to straight hard-driving rock to a smooth island vibe, their music is visceral, emotional, fun and easy. There truly is something in their catalogue for every mood.
The initial inspiration behind the band that is The Walk-A-Bout comes from guitar vignettes originally composed by self-realized string master Kevin Anderson. After growing and living with these compositions for a number of years, fate brought him together with the perfect songwriting partner, translating his vision into the lyrical domain.
This partner is Australian singer/songwriter, blues harpist, and didgeridoo player Darren Sullivan, who applied his very special brand of word-smithing to the material. He created imagery from the original titles and permeated each piece with energy; spanning a wide range of subjects from heartbreak to soul searching to adventure to introspection to even the simple concept of enjoying being alive.
The enterprise was then completed with the chance introduction to career drummer/ producer Drew Bertrand, who quickly acknowledged the unique nature of their writing and began sculpting arrangements and cadence for each song, carefully recognizing every song’s distinct identity.
After a period of time together, Drew decided to call on his music business partner, multi-instrumentalist Michael Perrotta, co-owner of Ridge Hill Sound Studios, to come into sessions and help craft arrangements and do what few musicians have such command of doing: shaping the harmonic relationships within each piece. Bringing Mike in on bass guitar proved to be the catalyzing factor that allowed The Walk-A-Bout to head into the studio to record their new self-titled release.
